Progress Report on 'Consumer Involvement in Health Research'P Hodgson Currently, three focus groups have been carried out with Consortium members, individuals who have undertaken research training with Health R&D North West, and members of the patient group from the Cardio Thoracic Centre. The data has been transcribed and we are currently 'cleaning' the transcriptions. A meeting has been arranged for 28 August with myself and Drs Krysia Canvin and Ruth Hunter for discussion of the themes from one of the focus groups. Once concordance has been agreed, the remaining transcripts will be analysed. We anticipate that analysis will be completed by the end of September and expect to draft (at least) two papers from this project. In addition, a report/summary of the themes from the focus groups will be sent to each member of the focus groups for additional comments. We will hold another focus group during August in an attempt to capture a more 'political' view of consumer involvement in health research. For any enquiries please contact Paula Hodgson |
