Aim

  1. To identify the interacting roles of psychological and socioeconomic adversity on the persistence of depression
  2. To identify how these influence the use of health care

Method

A follow up study to look for predictors of persistent or recurrent depression in a random community sample previously found to be depressed. 84 people from Liverpool previously identified in the ODIN study were contacted. From those who consented to take part in the study, data were collected using; telephone interview; postal questionnaire; qualitative interview; with additional GP case note analysis
